The UConn Huskies men’s basketball team has been the program of the decade so far for the 2020s.

Dan Hurley has taken the Huskies to four straight NCAA Tournaments, winning the past two. The Huskies are the first men’s team to win back-to-back championships since the Florida Gators in 2007 and 2008.

While the Huskies’ quest for a three-peat begins on November 6 when they open the regular season against the Sacred Heart Pioneers, Hurley and his staff picked up a massive win on the recruiting trail Wednesday.

ESPN reported that the Huskies received a commitment from 2025 center Eric Reibe, the second-ranked center in ESPN’s 2025 rankings.

Reibe told ESPN that he admired the culture at UConn, along with their player development of center Donovan Clingan, who averaged 13.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per game last season and was selected seventh overall in the 2024 NBA Draft.

“The player development stood out to me, especially with Donovan Clingan. Sending six players to the league in two years and winning two national championships is very special. Coach Hurley’s plan with me aligns perfectly and I have a great relationship with all the coaches and players. It was an indescribable feeling that told me UConn is home,” Reibe said.

The big man chose the Huskies over the Kansas Jayhawks, Indiana Hoosiers, Oregon Ducks, and fellow Big East member Creighton Bluejays.

Reibe is the second player in UConn’s class of 2025, joining guard Darius Adams.
