The Miami Hurricanes are one of the biggest stories out of the early goings of the 2024 college football season. Miami is 2-0 after defeating Florida and Florida A&M in consecutive weeks. It’s been a while since the Hurricanes have been nationally relevant, and this year, they look great.
Joel Klatt was a believer in Miami before the season. Thanks to an improved roster, the inclusion of Cam Ward through the transfer portal, and great recruiting, the Hurricanes looked great to the Fox Sports analyst.
So far, nothing’s changed to make him waver.
“I have Miami in my playoff at the very beginning of the season. I thought Cam Ward was going to be the best quarterback in the ACC. The question was how much of a difference was he going to be able to make on what we’d be able to assume was just an incredibly improved roster over the last couple of years,” Klatt said.
“What do I think now? Well, Cam Ward has not only been the best player in the ACC, but one of the best players in the country,” he said. “They also added Damien Martinez,” Klatt added, noting his 6.0 yards per carry to this point. He considered him a high-quality transfer in the offseason, and that’s coming to fruition.
“Miami, what do I think now? They’re still the ACC favorite,” Klatt declared on this year’s Hurricanes. We’ll see if they finish out and make those preseason guesses correct.
