Oregon legend Sabrina Ionescu took note of the Ducks’ huge victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes. What’s more is she saw it and added fuel to her own fire.
Ionescu and the New York Liberty are in the WNBA Finals against the Minnesota Lynx. Ionescu revealed that after watching the Ducks defeat the Buckeyes, she became even more motivated for Game 2.
“Once a Duck, always a Duck,” the Liberty posted on Monday morning.

“After they won with the way they did, today I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m going to wear my Oregon shoes.’ I wanted to embody that tough, gritty win that they pulled off,” Ionescu told reporters.
Oregon defeated Ohio State in the biggest game of the regular season thus far. The Ducks won 32-31 over the visiting Buckeyes, scoring a win over one of the most talented teams in the country.
“A lot things didn’t go right for them and they continued to kind of fight and stay together and grind out a really big win and I was, ‘all right and I wanted to bring that energy with me today on the court.’”
Ionescu scored 15 points in the Liberty’s 80-66 win over the Lynx in Game 2 Sunday night. So whatever feelings she invoked from watching her Ducks play, they sure seemed to work.
Oregon is back in action this Friday when the Ducks take on the Purdue Boilermakers in West Lafayette. The No.2-ranked Ducks hope to keep the line moving and avoid a trap.
