The Arizona State Sun Devils come into the week still very much alive in the race for the Big 12 and hope to improve their standing even more on Saturday when they head to Manhattan to take on the Kansas State Wildcats.

Both teams come into the game with identical 7-2 records and are 4-2 in Big 12 play. The losing team will almost certainly be out of the Big 12 championship race as there are currently four total teams with two losses tied for second place behind the 9-0 BYU Cougars. The Wildcats seemingly have the advantage as the home team, as they’re 4-0 at home this season while Arizona State is 2-2 on the road.

However, the Sun Devils will be aided by the return of star running back Cam Skattebo, who is probable to return after suffering a shoulder injury in the team’s 42-21 win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Skattebo missed last week’s win over the UCF Knights, but ESPN’s Pete Thamel has reported that he returned to practice Tuesday and Wednesday and is on track to play.

Skattebo is the Big 12’s leader in all-purpose yards, averaging 166 per game. He’s also one of three players in the conference with over 1,000 rushing yards this season, as his 1,001 yards put him third in the conference behind Texas Tech’s Tajh Brooks (1,184) and UCF’s  RJ Harvey (1,328).

Skattebo has 13 touchdowns this season. Eleven have been rushing touchdowns, while the other two were via receptions.

Arizona State and Kansas State will play on Saturday at 6 p.m. CT and air on ESPN.
