The Nebraska Cornhuskers will play the USC Trojans this weekend in an important game for both teams. SC and Nebraska haven’t had the seasons they’ve wanted to, but they both need to finish strong. While the Trojans deal with a conundrum at quarterback between Miller Moss and Jayden Maiava, the Huskers got some good news on the quarterback front.
Freshman sensation Dylan Raiola is set to return under center for Nebraska this weekend vs. USC. The Huskers quarterback had been banged up, but head coach Matt Rhule says he’s a go after a bye week and a clean week.
Rhule confirmed Raiola’s status during a press conference at Nebraska on Thursday.
“Dylan is ready to go. Great week of practice,” Rhule said.
So the Huskers will welcome Raiola back to the lineup and under center. He’s shown flashes this year after being touted as the top recruit in the country.
In his freshman season, through nine games, Raiola’s completed 176 of 272 attempts (64.7%), thrown for 1,921 yards, 10 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Those picks will have to come down someday, and those TDs will have to go up. But for what it’s worth, there’s obviously still plenty of time for him to turn it around.
The 5-4 Huskers will look to end a three-game losing streak against USC this weekend. The Trojans, meanwhile, are mired in their own muck, having lost four of the last five.
