College GameDay

ESPN’s College GameDay will make a trip to a first-time-ever location next Saturday.

The California Golden Bears have never hosted the iconic ESPN college football pregame show. But next week, that drought will finally come to an end. Cal hosts the Top 10-ranked Miami Hurricanes next Saturday, and the program announced they’ll be in the house.

“Berkeley, for the FIRST TIME EVER, we’re headed your way!” the GameDay account posted on X. “College GameDay is coming to town as Cal welcomes top-10 Miami” they boasted.

The Golden Bears are 3-1 on the season with a stunning win over Auburn on their resume. They fell to Florida State last week but hope to pick the Hurricanes off in a rare trip out west for the storied program. Miami makes few trips to the Pacific Time Zone, so this will be a fascinating game no matter what.

Cam Ward was superb for the Hurricanes in their controversial victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies on Friday night. He’s currently among the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy. How he plays against Cal could decide who wins it.

But this is a huge moment for the Cal program. Whether you love the show or hate it, it’s often seen as validation for GameDay to be on your favorite team’s campus. For the Golden Bears, as they try to emerge in the ACC, this could be a big day in Berkeley.
