The Ohio State Buckeyes felt the heat online Saturday afternoon. Ohio State opted to wear unique uniforms on Saturday that got everyone’s attention. There’s one problem: That attention was for the wrong reasons.

Ohio State announced earlier Saturday that the Buckeyes would wear alternate gray uniforms, moving away from their traditional scarlet and gray, against the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Buckeyes welcomed Iowa to Columbus for the first time in several years, and planned to mark the occasion by wearing a different uniform set.

“Gameday in Gray,” Ohio State had announced. At the time, everything was going great. The Buckeyes boasted their uniforms proudly and hoped to smother the Hawkeyes later on int he day.

Then, the Buckeyes stepped on the field.

Everything appeared to be going fine. Some in Columbus approved, but based on the reaction to the uniforms, it wasn’t the majority-held opinion. They didn’t land what they hoped to.

“When I say I hate Ohio State’s gray uniforms, I don’t mean it in the typical, ‘I don’t like these uniforms’ kinda way,” Tom Fornelli sa.d “I mean I hate them, and if they were a person, I would revel in any misfortune that came their way.”

That was just a taste of the reactions that followed.

Whatever the Buckeyes hoped to achieve with this uniform set, for some, it didn’t come anywhere close.
