Bill O’Brien’s first season as head coach of the Boston College Eagles has started well. The Eagles went 4-2 through their first six games and are setting themselves up nicely to return to a bowl game for the second straight year.
The Eagles even found themselves back in the AP Top 25 for the first time since 2018 when they checked in at No. 24 earlier this season.
Boston College’s journey to bowl season got a bit tougher this week, though, as ESPN reported that junior cornerback Amari Jackson would miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.
Jackson left Boston College’s 24-14 loss against the Virginia Cavaliers on October 5, and BC had a bye week last week.
This season, Jackson has started every game for the Eagles. He’s made 21 tackles, recorded one interception, and has deflected five passes, the most on the team.
In his three seasons with the program, Jackson has started 24 games, recorded 80 tackles, deflected nine passes, and hauled in two interceptions, including one that went for a touchdown in 2023 against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. He will likely be replaced by freshman Ashton McShane, who filled in for the corner after he was injured in the Virginia game.
Boston College will return to action this Thursday when it travels to Blacksburg to face the Virginia Tech Hokies. The game will air on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. ET.
