The Colorado Buffaloes suffered their first conference loss of the season last weekend, falling 31-28 to the Kansas State Wildcats.
The loss dropped the Buffs to 4-2 on the season as they look to make a bowl game for the first time under second-year head coach Deion Sanders.
Making things worse in the loss for the Buffaloes was that they lost wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter to injury. Hunter left the loss with a shoulder injury in the second quarter and didn’t return. Before his departure, he played 44 total snaps: 23 on offense and 21 on defense.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Sanders didn’t seem too concerned about Hunter’s injury going forward, saying that the two-way standout should be back in the lineup for this Saturday’s game against the Arizona Wildcats.
“Travis should play for certain,” Sanders said during his weekly press conference.
So far this season, Hunter has done it all for the Buffaloes. He leads the team with 49 receptions for 587 yards and six touchdowns, along with making 16 tackles and hauling in two interceptions, as the two-way star has flirted with Heisman Trophy contention during the early part of the season.
Sanders also noted that Jimmy Horn Jr, Colorado’s second-leading receiver behind Hunter, will also return against Arizona. Horn was also injured in Colorado’s loss to Kansas State. He caught three passes for 20 yards before leaving. Horn has hauled in 26 catches for 347 yards and one touchdown this season.
Colorado and Arizona are set to kick off at 3 p.m. on October 19. The game will air on Fox.
