Expectations are high for Cooper Flagg, and they swelled even more on Monday.

The Associated Press named Flagg to the Preseason All-American squad. The Duke-bound freshman is the top recruit in the nation and has received praise from all over before he even set on the floor.

Flagg joins seniors Mark Sears (Alabama), Caleb Love (Arizona), Hunter Dickinson (Kansas), Johni Broome (Auburn), and RJ Davis (North Carolina).

Flagg is in elite company as few freshman have been named to the Preseason All-American team. Harrison Barnes of North Carolina famously did it in the 2010-11 season. Flagg is also in terrific company with five college basketball veterans. As some noted, it speaks to the type of player he could be this year.

Jon Scheyer and Duke will also have huge expectations this year. The Blue Devils finished with an Elite Eight appearance last season and went 27-9. As always, the attention will be on the Dukies to do well. Scheyer is in his third season coaching, having succeeded the great Coach K.

The sports world had much to say over Cooper Flagg and the high honor he received Monday.
