The Vanderbilt Commodores fell to the Texas Longhorns on Saturday. Despite that, Skip Bayless still was proud of what he saw.
The longtime sports prognosticator and former Vandy alum spoke out after the COmmodores’ 27-24 defeat to the fifth-ranked Longhorns on Saturday.
“TO MY VANDERBILT COMMODORES, WHO WERE 18.5-POINT UNDERDOGS AND MADE TEXAS SWEAT, 27-24,” Bayless boasted on X.

Bayless is right that Diego Pavia and Vanderbilt weren’t thought highly of against the Longhorns. Texas came into the game after a dispiriting loss to the Georgia Bulldogs last Saturday night in Austin. Texas didn’t impress their fans with the performance, but they still got away with a victory.
In turn, the game also showed that the Commodores remain very tough. They knocked off mighty Alabama, then ranked No. 1, for the first time in eons. They proved difficult for Mizzou to corral, as the Tigers needed overtime to put them away. Whatever the Commodores have going on in Nashville, it’s really starting to work. It might not always work out like it didn’t on Saturday, but they’re playing competitively and staying in games until the bitter end.
It was another very busy day in the Southeastern Conference. As always, the conference boasts some of the best and brightest in college football.
