The Boston College Eagles are among the nation’s biggest surprises through the first month of the season. But Buston College received some dispiriting news on Friday ahead of their Week 5 matchup. After suffering an injury, Eagles quarterback Thomas Castellanos will miss their game versus Western Kentucky.
“BC quarterback Thomas Castellanos will miss the game against Western Kentucky with an injury that occurred in the Michigan State game on Saturday,” ESPN’s Pete Thamel said on X Friday afternoon.
Thamel said the Eagles will start quarterback Grayson James in Castellanos’ place. It will be James’ first start in a BC uniform.

Boston College made waves this season after they stunned the Florida State Seminoles in Tallahassee. Head coach Bill O’Brien has plenty of pedigree and he’s shown it off in spades with the Eagles. They’re out to a 3-1 start including that win over the ACC’s Seminoles. That’s the lone conference game that Boston College has played thus far this season.
The Eagles will resume ACC play on October 5, so we’ll see if Castellanos’ absence extends until then. It could put them in a predicament without him. But time will tell.
