The Colorado Buffaloes must account for an abrupt change ahead of the 2024 college football season. A coach has left the program just over a week and a half before the season opener.
Colorado writer Brian Howell reported this week that special teams coordinator Trevor Reilly is no longer with the program.
“Colorado staffer Trevor Reilly, who oversaw special teams, is no longer with the program,” Howell wrote on X, the website formerly known as Twitter. Howell added that his source “wouldn’t comment on whether Reilly resigned or was let go.”
The team hired George Helow to fill the void, as Howell said.

Colorado will again be one of America’s most frequently-discussed college football programs. Head coach Deion Sanders has brought much attention to Boulder, but the results didn’t match the hype last year. While the Buffaloes improved from where they were, the team still finished 4-8. They’re in a new Big 12 that might prove very competitive.
But still, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are aboard. Hunter and Sanders are two probable first-round talents who will continue to excite CU and college football fans this year. If there’s any safe bet with this team, it’s that.
All eyes will be on CU, one way or another.
