Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are off to a 5-0 start to the season, including 2-0 in their first two Big Ten games.
Oregon is one of just four Big Ten teams that entered October with a perfect record, but that number will drop to at least three by the end of the weekend.
Lanning and the Ducks host the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday in the biggest matchup of a day rife with big matchups. The Ducks are No. 2 in the AP Poll, while Ohio State is No. 3.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Lanning previewed the matchup and praised former Oregon Ducks head coach Chip Kelly, Ohio State’s offensive coordinator.
“Yeah, I remember the teams that he had here. I think everybody respects him as a football coach and certainly the things that he was able to accomplish while he was here,” Lanning said during his media availability.
Lanning went on to discuss how coaching against Kelly, who was UCLA’s head coach from 2018-23, overlapping Lanning’s time with Oregon by a couple of years.
“I think he’s always done a great job of utilizing his personnel, moving guys around and allowing them to do things that they do really, really well. He always finds unique ways to run the ball. I think that’s one thing that he probably doesn’t get enough credit for is his ability to run the ball, regardless of situation.”
Ohio State and Oregon kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will air on NBC.
