Shedeur Sanders stands to be one of the top quarterbacks picked in next year’s NFL Draft. Where he goes will be one of the biggest questions going into the spectacle, but another one may arise too: Will his father, Deion Sanders, influence where he goes?

On FS1’s Speak earlier this week, the panel hosted Sanders ahead of Colorado’s matchup against the Utah Utes this weekend. The panel discussed Sanders’ son Shedeur and his NFL Draft prospects.

Former No. 1 overall pick Keyshawn Johnson asked Sanders directly if he plans to “step in” to say Sanders won’t go to a poorly run NFL team.

“Yeah, but I’m not going to do it publicly. I’ll do it privately,” Sanders admitted on his son Shedeur and his future prospects. “I’m gonna be dad until the cows come home. And with Travis as well,” he added.

Sanders wouldn’t say which teams he’d specifically like to see his son play for or give him reasoning. Sanders’ ideal fit for his son would be a team that understands what his son is capable of.

“He’s like that, man. He has a true gift and it comes from God and he loves this game of football,” Sanders said of his son. “That’s just who he is.”

We’ve seen the reaction to what happened with the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James this summer. James and his agent, Rich Paul, appeared to steer the team towards drafting LeBron’s son, Bronny James to the team. We’ve seen this type of behavior before in the NFL with Eli Manning. Sanders may have the namesake to make this work. But it is, indeed, quite a gamble.
