Deion Sanders won’t mince words on assessing his team. Not even for his sons.

Colorado fell 31-28 to Kansas State in overtime on Saturday night. Shilo Sanders, Deion’s son and Buffaloes cornerback, made a play that went across the internet for all the wrong reasons.

Sanders had his “ankles broken” during a play late in the game.

After the game, Sanders didn’t hold back while discussing his son’s poor performance against the Wildcats.

“I thought he played horrible,” Sanders said via On3.com. He continued, “I thought he was rusty. I thought he didn’t have his footing. I thought he wasn’t breaking down. He was coming up trying to make the play but open field, one-on-one tackle, with that kind of back, that ain’t an easy task. But, he’s gonna do better. I know what he has in him.”

While harsh, Sanders was fair in his assessment. He didn’t deride him needlessly or anything like that. Just a fair evaluation. Colorado needs to play much better, and that showed itself to be true in this disappointing defeat.

Of course, Colorado experienced the other end of the spectrum with their thrilling win over Baylor last month. That’s just the way it goes. The Buffaloes will reassess and take the field again this Saturday in Tucson against Arizona.
