The Missouri Tigers and Oklahoma Sooners rekindled their rivalry Saturday night for the first time as members of the SEC, picking up where they left off 12 years ago before Missouri left the Big 12.

Mizzou came away from the marquee matchup with a 30-23 victory, set up by a scoop and score in the final minute to seal the deal.

The Tigers were without starting quarterback Brady Cook, but backup Drew Pyne stepped up in a big way, going 14-for-27 for 143 yards and three touchdown passes.

Pyne and the Tigers struggled offensively in the first half, leading to the home fans booing. There was also a lot of buzz on social media about the poor play. This upset head coach Eli Drinkwitz and he let everyone know after the game.

“I just can’t say how proud I am of Drew Pyne for all the crap he’s taken. You know, I feel like I’m up here all the time having to defend my quarterback, which is not great, but for all the crap he’s taken on Twitter and X, for him to come out here, ignore the noise, some of it from y’all in this room, he goes out there and y’all can raise up at me and look like it’s not, but it is. He goes out there and delivers in the keyest moments in the fourth quarter after fans have been booing. He just goes out there and delivers,” Drinkwitz said in his postgame press conference.

It’s currently unclear if Cook or Pyne will be under center for Mizzou’s showdown with the South Carolina Gamecocks on November 16 in South Carolina.
