The Florida Gators cruised to a 26-17 win over the LSU Tigers Saturday in Gainesville, securing a signature win for head coach Billy Napier and pulling the Gators to just one game shy of bowl eligibility at 5-5.
Freshman quarterback DJ Lagway played well for the Gators, going 13-for-26 for 226 yards and a touchdown pass in the victory, as he looks to be the long-term answer at the position for Napier’s squad.
Lagway will have company in the quarterback room next year, though. On Sunday, four-star quarterback Tramell Jones Jr, who de-committed from the Florida State Seminoles earlier last week and was at The Swamp for the win over LSU, pledged his commitment to Napier and the Gators.
On3’s Hayes Fawcett had the news first, and Jones confirmed it on his X account shortly after.

Jones is from Jacksonville and was highly courted by schools in the state and region alike. The added quarterback depth may prove very helpful for Napier and the Gators. However, injuries, transfers, and any number of other issues can pop up.
