When the Iowa Hawkeyes received a commitment from 2025 defensive end Iose Epenesa on Thursday, it marked the fourth time a member of the Epenesa family would play for Iowa.
His father, Eppy, played at the school in the 1990s. Brother AJ Epenesa played for the Hawkeyes from 2017-19 and was a two-time member of the All-Big Ten first team. Nathan Epenesa, another brother, is currently a walk-on linebacker for the Hawkeyes.
It’s not often that you see four members of the same family play for the same school, especially across multiple generations, so when it does pop up, it’s always very neat to see.
Social media shared a similar sentiment, as college football fans sounded off about Epenesa committing to the Hawkeyes.
