Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are doing it again. Sanders and the Buffs have made it interesting going into the thick of November. Colorado just keeps winning, and after Iowa State’s loss this weekend, CU is in a position to make the Big 12 Championship Game. That would make for a remarkable turnaround after a lot of hoopla over the last two seasons.
Despite that, should we expect Deion to stay in college football forever? ESPN’s Paul Finebaum isn’t so sure.
Finebaum has seen a lot over his years covering and following college football. So, if anyone would know about the realities of the sport, he’s among them. On First Take on Monday, the ESPN personality weighed in on Sanders’ coaching future in college football. Finebaum doesn’t think he’s in the sport for much longer.
“I think Deion now knows college football is too difficult, dealing with the portal, dealing with the NIL, dealing with the bureaucracy of administrators. I don’t think long term will suit him,” Finebaum said via On3.
“He’s beaten the system. If the season ended today, it was a masterpiece. But I think he can do so much more,” he added. Finebaum and the rest of the First Take panel spent the morning suggesting he take the Dallas Cowboys head coaching job. Provided they dump Mike McCarthy first, of course.
Nonetheless, it’s been a long and winding road for Sanders in Boulder. So what’s a little more mystery?
