The Texas Longhorns have been dealt another tough injury blow.
Less than a week after losing sophomore running back CJ Baxter to a season-ending knee injury, the school announced Tuesday that freshman running back Christian Clark would miss the season with an Achilles injury he suffered in practice.
Texas beat reported Anwar Richardson shared the statement from the school on X.
From UT: “Texas freshman running back Christian Clark sustained a torn Achilles tendon in practice on Monday, will undergo surgery and be out for the season.”

“Texas freshman running back Christian Clark sustained a torn Achilles tendon in practice on Monday, will undergo surgery and be out for the season,” the statement read.
With Baxter and Clark injured, the Longhorns enter the season with just three scholarship running backs on their roster. They were already going to have to replace leading rusher Jonathon Brooks, the exciting back who tore his ACL late last season and was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in April.
Baxter was expected to be the starter before his injury, so Texas will now likely turn to junior Jaydon Blue, who rushed for 398 yards on 65 carries last season and found the end zone three times.
The Longhorns will have to figure out their rushing attack quickly. After their home opener against the Colorado State Rams, Texas travels to Ann Arbor for a showdown with the vaunted Michigan Wolverines and their prolific defense.
