For the first time since 2013, the Vanderbilt Commodores are nationally ranked.
After one of their most successful starts to a season ever, Vanderbilt woke up and found out they were in the Top 25 on Sunday. The Commodores are now the 25th-ranked team in the nation in the newest Associated Press poll.

“Movin’ up,” the Vanderbilt football account said.
The Commodores are 5-2 on the season, on the verge of becoming bowl eligible with one more victory. The program earned its first win over Alabama in 40 years. Vandy has only defeated Vanderbilt three times since the 1969 season. That historic win has put the spotlight on the ‘Dores, who don’t appear to be disinterested in shying away from it.
They’ll have their work cut out for them though next. Vanderbilt will play highly touted Texas. But after defeating mighty Alabama, don’t expect the Commodores to fear the Longhorns in that game.
There were several other shakeups in this week’s AP Top 25. The Oregon Ducks now sit at the top of the rankings at 7-0 on the season. The shakeup at the top happened after the now-second-ranked Georgia Bulldogs defeated the aforementioned Longhorns in Austin on Saturday night. Oregon handled its business on Friday night, defeating Purdue 35-0.
The college football world reacted to the news on Vanderbilt.
Imagine telling someone 5 years ago that Vandy-Texas would be a ranked SEC matchup https://t.co/ee4Zs2xFWj

When No. 5 Texas visits No. 25 @VandyFootball on Saturday, it will be the first time ranked teams have met at FirstBank Stadium since Oct. 4, 2008.
On that day, with @CollegeGameDay in Nashville, No. 19 Vandy beat No. 13 Auburn, 14-13.#AnchorDown https://t.co/bl9Zbio253
