The Missouri Tigers are 2-0 on the season in 2024. The sixth-ranked Tigers will host the Boston College Eagles this weekend in an ACC-SEC tilt. BC stunned the college football world in Week 1 with an impressive defeat over Florida State at Doak Campbell Stadium. The upset-minded Eagles will go to Columbia on Saturday with the same goal in mind.

Mizzou fell to Boston College three years ago out in Chestnut Hill. The brutal loss was one of the first for head coach Eli Drinkwitz. Those were rougher times for the Tigers, who were on the heels of a dispiriting few seasons under then head coach Barry Odom. Drinkwitz also had a choice of words before that game that blew up in his face following the loss.

Ahead of the matchup in Columbia this weekend, Drinkwitz reflected on those words and that loss to Boston College on Wednesday.

Drinkwitz said via On3, “I just think at that moment, that game was hard for a lot of different reasons. I didn’t think we played particularly well. There was a lot of noise around that game for comments that were made by me. So I learned a hard lesson as a head coach there.”

He later added, “And then obviously, the emotional swings of that game. We came back, tied it up. They scored in overtime, we throw a pick the first play. First time having to deal with a crowd rushing the field and trying to navigate your way off the field. So, a lot to it.”

Mizzou-BC kicks off at 12:45 p.m. Eastern on Saturday.
