The college football world will turn its attention to Athens, Georgia, on Saturday for this week’s de facto College Football Playoff game between the Georgia Bulldogs and Tennessee Volunteers.
ESPN’s College GameDay will be on hand, marking the program’s second straight SEC matchup after being in Baton Rouge last week for the primetime showdown between the LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide. GameDay featured LSU icons Paul Skenes and Livvy Dunne as the guest pickers, so whomever this week’s picker was would have big shoes to fill.
Thankfully, ESPN found just who they needed for this week. The network announced Thursday that WWE Champion and Georgia Bulldogs fan Cody Rhodes would be the guest picker Saturday in Athens.

Rhodes is the second WWE superstar to be a GameDay guest picker this season. Sheamus had the task during week zero’s meeting between the Florida State Seminoles and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in his native Ireland.
Rhodes captured his first WWE Championship earlier this year at WrestleMania XL when he defeated Roman Reigns in the main event. Reigns also has strong college football ties, as he played defensive line for Georgia Tech from 2002-06, being named to the All-ACC first team in his senior season.
College GameDay will air in its usual 9 a.m. ET timeslot on ESPN on Saturday.
